population to peak at 9 billion by 2050.  The US Census Bureau has a
no-nonsense
yearly world population projection showing the same.

Learning: The Treasure Within makes a good
case for the importance of education in the 21st century.


Educating girls has a very high payoff.  A persuasive case is made in

The National Geographic Society is the organization that publishes the
magazine.  The
interactive online edition is an excellent complement to
the print edition of the National Geographic Magazine.  Partial

available online.  Their
education network has a community for the
magazine.

The
Millennium Villages Project is another experiment to end extreme
poverty.  
Make Poverty History is an advocacy organization persuading
the general public and policy makers.

Many
Peace Corps Volunteers teach around the world.  WorldTeach
volunteers focus exclusively on teaching around the world.  
Teachers
Without Borders is a non-profit organization leveraging teachers to
benefit community.

The
Maasai Girls Education Fund is engaged in a sustained long-term
experiment; they're starting small like us, but we hope our results can
be replicated multiple times to great benefit.

Books for the Barrios, Bridge to Asia, Books for Africa, Room to Read
all ship large volumes of books.  Our work is to stimulate the desire to
learn.  With desire, smart children & the community will make best use
of such resources.

Pageant is closely aligned with our philosophy of education as the key
to progress.  They are focused on The Gambia for their work.
